Google Places Search Settings for Norwegian Brønnøysundregistrene Register

Overview

When using Google Places to find Norwegian companies too few VAT numbers are found.

The main issue is that Google returns a slightly different name from what can be found in Brønnøysundregistrene, the Norwegian register for all companies in Norway.

Solution

In Google Places you can manage settings for all your users. We have now created a search setting which the Google Places admin can enable, Search Brønnøysundregistrene.

How to

Follow these steps to enable the Search Brønnøysundregistrene setting

  1. The Google Places admin logs into https://my-googleplaces.infobridgeuniverse.com
  2. Go to the Settings (top right corner)
  3. Enable the Search Brønnøysundregistrene setting

With this setting, you can enable or disable the functionality to search the Norwegian Register, Brønnøysundregistrene.
For Norwegian companies, it is guaranteed that a VAT number is found when you use this search method.

Searching with Google never provides you with a postal address but only with a visiting address. The Norwegian Register, however, can in most cases provide a postal address besides the visiting address.

Note: When using this setting, keep in mind that searching the Norwegian Register can only be done by start with and not by contains. So the company name must start with the name you are searching for.
Note: Also a phone number is not stored in the register.
